THE WARDS OF HOUSTON TEXAS THE PAST AND PRESENT

Day 90 in my Legacy Journal Project 2 “shine light on the ignorance and people's perception of the Wards of Houston You can rename streets or neighborhoods However, education is key here. The wards were not created to house slaves or breed crime. The wards have a rich history in the creation of the fourth largest and most diverse city in the U.S.

Houston, Texas, was founded in 1836 and initially had only one district. Over time, the city grew and expanded, and new districts including the First, Second, and Third Municipal Districts were established in 1839. These districts were later renamed wards, and by 1856, Houston had five wards. Wake up people, get a history lesson, and become proud of your cites past. More to come
